This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use babynamehindu.com or our Android app. Please read it carefully. Your use of our service means you agree to the practices described here.

1Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly, information generated automatically when you use our service, and information from your device. Here is a full breakdown:
1.1 Account Information
When you create a BabyNameHindu account, we collect:
- Email address: used as your unique login identifier
- Password: stored in encrypted form only (see Data Security)
- Baby gender preference (Boy, Girl, or Surprise): used to personalise name recommendations
Creating an account does not require your full name, date of birth, phone number, or payment information. We only collect those if you choose to use our Janam Kundli or Baby Name Report service (see 1.7).
1.2 Content You Create
- Saved names: Hindu baby names you save or shortlist to your account
- Search queries: names and meanings you search for within our service
- Filter preferences: your chosen filters such as Rashi (zodiac sign), Nakshatra (birth star), Deity, or regional language
1.3 Usage & Activity Data
We collect general usage data such as pages visited, searches performed, and features used. This helps us understand how the service is used and improve it over time.
1.4 Device & Technical Information
We collect standard technical information that your device sends automatically, such as IP address, browser type, operating system, device type, and app version. This is used for security, analytics, and to ensure the service works correctly on your device.
1.5 Cookies & Local Storage
We use cookies and browser local storage to keep you logged in, remember your preferences, and understand how our service is used. See Section 4 (Cookies) for full details.
1.6 Communications
If you contact us by email ([email protected]), we collect your email address and the contents of your message so we can respond to you.
1.7 Janam Kundli & Baby Name Report Service
These are optional services. You provide this information only if you choose to request a Janam Kundli or a Baby Name Report. When you do, we collect:
- Baby's date of birth, time of birth, and place of birth: required by our astrologer to prepare your personalised Kundli or name report
- Baby's gender: used to tailor the report and name suggestions
- Your name (parent or guardian): so we can address and deliver your report
- Phone number (WhatsApp) and email address: used to send you the completed report and to contact you about your order
- Delivery address (recipient name, phone, full postal address, city, state, and pincode): collected only if you choose the optional printed hardcopy add-on, so we can courier the printed copy to you
- Order and payment details: a record of your order and its payment status. Card, UPI, and bank details are entered on and handled entirely by our payment processor (Razorpay) and are never collected or stored by us
This information is used only to prepare and deliver the service you requested. Birth details are used for astrological calculation, not for advertising. We do not sell this data, and we do not use it to track you across other apps or websites.
2How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

🛡️ We never sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for advertising or marketing purposes. Your data is used solely to operate and improve BabyNameHindu.
We share information only in these limited circumstances:
Service Providers
We use a small number of trusted third-party services that process data on our behalf, strictly under contract and for no other purpose. These include Cloudflare (infrastructure and security) and analytics providers. See Section 10 for details.
Legal Requirements
We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or government authority, or where necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of BabyNameHindu, our users, or the public.
Business Transfer
If Simply Solutions is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. You will be notified by email and/or a prominent notice on our website prior to any such transfer.
With Your Consent
We will share data in any other way only with your explicit prior consent.
4Cookies & Local Storage
We use cookies and browser local storage to make BabyNameHindu work and to understand how it is used. Here are the types we use:
Strictly necessary for the site to function. These store your login token (so you stay signed in), your session state, and your guest-saved names before you create an account. You cannot opt out of essential cookies without losing core functionality.
Remember your choices such as gender preference (Boy / Girl / Surprise) and your filter selections. These persist across sessions so you do not have to re-select your preferences every visit.
Help us understand how visitors use BabyNameHindu: which pages are most visited, where users click, and how long they stay. This data is aggregated and anonymous. We use this to improve the site.
Monitor page load times and error rates so we can identify and fix performance issues. This data is technical only; no personally identifiable information is captured.
No advertising or tracking cookies. We do not use cookies to track you across other websites or show you targeted advertisements. You can manage cookies through your browser settings, but disabling essential cookies will prevent login and saved-name features from working.
5Data Retention
We retain your data only for as long as necessary to provide the service and meet our legal obligations. Account data is deleted promptly when you close your account. Anonymised analytics data may be kept longer to help us improve the service. When data is no longer needed, it is securely deleted.
6Children's Privacy (COPPA)
BabyNameHindu is intended for adults (specifically parents and expecting families), not for children.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 13.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately at [email protected]. We will investigate and delete the information as quickly as possible, typically within 5 business days.
Users between the ages of 13 and 17 may use BabyNameHindu with parental supervision. We recommend parents review this privacy policy with their teenagers.
7Your Rights
You have meaningful rights over your personal information. These apply to all users, with additional rights for residents of California (CCPA) and the European Economic Area / UK (GDPR).
Rights available to all users
- ✓Right to Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- ✓Right to Correction: Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
- ✓Right to Deletion: Request deletion of your account and all associated personal data. You can also do this yourself in the app (Account tab → Delete Account).
- ✓Right to Withdraw Consent: Withdraw consent for non-essential data processing at any time.
- ✓Right to Data Portability: Request your saved names list in a portable format (CSV).

- Right to know what personal information is collected, used, shared, or sold
- Right to opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell your data)

Our legal bases for processing are: contractual necessity (to provide the service), legitimate interests (security, analytics, improvements), and consent (optional features).
To exercise any of your rights, email us at [email protected] with the subject line "Privacy Request". We will respond within 30 days. We may ask you to verify your identity before processing your request.
8Data Security
We take the security of your information seriously and implement multiple layers of protection:
🔐 Encrypted Passwords
Your password is never stored as plain text. We use a strong, industry-standard key derivation algorithm with a unique random salt per account, making it computationally infeasible to reverse even if our database were ever exposed.
🔒 HTTPS Everywhere
All data between your device and our servers is transmitted over HTTPS (TLS 1.3). Your login credentials and saved names are never sent unencrypted.
🛡️ Rate Limiting
Login and registration endpoints are protected by rate limiting. Too many failed attempts from the same IP address results in a temporary lockout to prevent brute-force attacks.
🔑 Signed Tokens
Your session is authenticated using a cryptographically signed token (not a guessable session ID). Signing out invalidates your token server-side immediately.
🧱 DDoS Protection
Our infrastructure is protected by Cloudflare's network, which absorbs volumetric attacks before they reach our servers.
🔍 Minimal Data
We only collect information that is genuinely necessary. The less data we hold, the less there is to protect.
Despite these measures, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we are committed to following industry best practices and notifying you promptly in the event of a breach that affects your personal data.
9International Data Transfers
BabyNameHindu is operated by Simply Solutions, based in India. If you are accessing our service from the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or another region with data transfer restrictions, your information may be transferred to and processed in countries where data protection laws may differ from your country.
We use Cloudflare for our infrastructure. Cloudflare operates a global network and may process data in multiple regions. Cloudflare is certified under appropriate data transfer frameworks and provides Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) for transfers from the EEA.
By using BabyNameHindu, you acknowledge and consent to the transfer of your information to the United States and other countries as described in this policy. We take steps to ensure your data receives adequate protection regardless of where it is processed.
10Third-Party Services
We use third-party services to operate and improve BabyNameHindu. Each processes only the data they need for the purpose stated:

11AI-Generated Content
🤖 Transparency notice: Some name meanings, descriptions, personality trait summaries, and Vedic/mythological context on BabyNameHindu are enhanced or generated using artificial intelligence.
Our editorial team reviews AI-generated content before it is published, but AI can make mistakes. Name meanings in Sanskrit and other ancient languages can vary significantly across regional traditions and scholarly interpretations. Always consult multiple sources, including traditional texts and a trusted pandit or naming expert, before finalising your baby's name.
When you use our AI Name Search feature, your search query is processed by an AI model to generate name suggestions and explanations. This query is not used to train AI models, and is not linked to your account or stored beyond the session.
AI-generated content is clearly based on patterns in ancient texts and modern usage. It is provided for inspiration and reference, not as a substitute for religious, cultural, or astrological advice.
12Account Deletion
You have the right to permanently delete your BabyNameHindu account and all associated data at any time. Deletion is immediate and irreversible.

- Open the app and go to the Account tab
- Sign in if you are not already logged in
- Scroll to the bottom and tap "Delete Account"
- Confirm in the dialog; your account is deleted immediately

- We will delete your account within 5 business days
When you delete your account, we permanently remove:
- Your email address and encrypted password
- Your baby gender preference
- All names saved to your account
Aggregate, anonymised analytics data (e.g. "this name was viewed 420 times this month") is retained; it cannot be linked back to you. Security logs are retained for 90 days as described in Section 5. If you have questions, email us at [email protected].
13Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our service, legal obligations, or industry best practices. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
For material changes (those that meaningfully affect your rights or how we use your data), we will notify you by email (if you have an account) at least 14 days before the change takes effect, and display a prominent notice on the website.
Your continued use of BabyNameHindu after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. If you do not agree with the changes, please stop using the service and delete your account.
14Janam Kundli Requests
When you request a Janam Kundli (birth chart) or a Baby Name Report, we collect the details you enter in the form: your baby's name and gender; the date, time and place of birth; your name; WhatsApp number; email address; and any message you add.
We use this information only to prepare and deliver your Kundli and to contact you about your request. Each report is prepared using a combination of the details you provide and AI-assisted tools, together with input from our team, and is delivered to your WhatsApp and email. We also send an automatic confirmation email when you submit the form.
We do not sell this information or use it for third-party advertising. We keep it only as long as needed to fulfil your request and to operate and improve the service. You can ask us to correct or delete it at any time by emailing [email protected].
Astrology is provided for personal interest and cultural purposes only and may not be fully accurate. Please see our Terms of Use for the full Janam Kundli and astrology disclaimer.
